In general I prefer to keep my system as clean & simple as possible, which includes avoiding plug-ins of any type when possible.
I also don't like software changing behind the scenes without requesting permission or letting me to easily revert to a previous version. When marching towards a deadline (proposal, software release, etc) I even block Apple software updates. Unfortunately, I know I am on the wrong side of this trend. For example, Google is always updating its software without requesting permission or even notifying me.
