Siri is the reason I "bit the bullet" and got the Iphone 5 (plus it would
work better on the updated technology from 4S I thought) and although
inconsistent it does save me a lot of typing with low vision. I'm just
surprised that the regular dictation feature seems to be much worse at
speech recognition than Siri is. Maybe just my imagination but I've noticed
it several times. I also have a speech defect so I take that into account,
but still.
The really troubling thing is the strange dictionary both use. No sense at
all but just totally random bizarre words instead of using any logic to use
the most sensible grammatically correct similar word.

I personally don't have a problem with maps. They definitely have food eye
candy (floating around).
But radio and tv stations here are saying how upset users are with it.
A lot of people complained and complain a kit Siri. I think Siri does a
great job given today's technology.
I think it's the best voice recognition I've seen on a device.

mobile device should be considered a critical service. It should be noted
that there are alternatives available in the App Store (some kind of
expensive though), and there are rumors that a Google Maps app will be
available in the store soon.

Apple is using is bad or if the software that reads and presents the data is
bad. If it is the former, it is going to be a long and expensive fix (go out
and get good data). If it is the latter, a software patch could alleviate a
lot of the pain fairly soon.
