I worry a bit too.
I rarely go to Apple's support or developer forums. The only alternative that I have liked over email is stackoverflow.com for software development. Whenever I have a question about how to do something (coding wise), I type in a question in my address bar (which sends it to Google) and most of the time I find the question has already been asked and answered on stackoverflow. The voting system there is helpful.
Having said that, I don't go to stackoverflow on a regular basis.
Email may be the most archaic form of communication on the Internet, but it is still hard to beat for a lot of things.
Todd
