Rich/Tom/Walter:
Thanks for your help. While I was familiar with diskutil, I wasn't aware of
Core Storage (cs) being necessary because of FV2.
I tried the "diskutil cs delete" command without much success. The "diskutil
cs delete" command launched but after reaching the "Erasing diskNsN" part it
reported "Error: 13: POSIX reports: Permission denied". Google had 7 results
for that but none seem to help except for the possibility that there is a
mechanical write protect switch inside the case which I really doubt is the
issue but isn't something I had previously thought of.
There was one positive "discovery" though. The user gave me permission to
experiment with a few of the other cs commands and their password worked
with the "diskutil coreStorage unlockVolume" command even if the GUI rejects
the same password (we both typed it repeatedly) when the thumb-drive is
first inserted. I still couldn't do anything more with it unlocked but
perhaps this is a clue for someone with more experience with Core Storage
and FV2. Also, while in Disk Utility I can run the "Verify Disk" and
numerous errors are reported, the "Repair Disk" function is unavailable.
I'm thinking of executing the "diskutil coreStorage changeVolumePassphrase"
next to see if the GUI version would cooperate but I don't want to change
anything until after hearing back from the forum.
TIA.

You can accomplish this with terminal using the CoreStorage api.
diskutil cs list
Copy the Logical Volume Group UUID of the drive in question.
diskutil cs delete "Copied UUID"

Subject: [Fed-Talk] Filevault 2 and AdmitMAC/PKI
New here and not sure if this topic has been presented before. Our
organization has issues with logging in OSX 10.8 when file vault 2 is
enabled in conjunction with AdmitMAC/PKI. Scouring the internet and
it seems to be an inherit issue with file vault 2 but just wondering
if anybody has discovered any fixes.
