The Navy just switched from Verizon to AT&T and my new BB Bold can't tether to the Mac anymore. Since there is no NMCI Mac support, I called AT&T. Well, they have no Mac support either. Looking on the internet, The AT&T Connection Manager is windows only and AT&T then recommends to contact the phone manufacturer for compatible software. Which brings me back to BB Desktop Software. I installed the latest since it is a new phone.
When the BB connects via USB, the computer prompts for the device password, it says connecting, asks or a device name (unexpected since the device already has a name provided when I connected to my NMCI computer), and then stays on the connect a device screen. Removing the device, rebooting computer and trying again, always brings me to the same sequence of events.
Questions:
1. Is the desktop software required to tether? The Verizon BB didn't need it.
2. Since the network preferences pane recognizes the BB as modem, I should be able to use it. An internet search left me with some dial and login settings that didn't work (CINGULAR). Anyone has any info on login and dialing AT&T settings? When I asked AT&T over the phone, the CSR had no idea of what I was talking about.
Thanks in advance for any help.
