…Is there any chance we can get Apple to provide an "Allow Java for the following sites:" option, as opposed to enabling / disabling it globally?
No matter how ugly it is, and how awful the risks of allowing Java applets, we're stuck with at least a few DoD sites like DTS requiring it. And Apple is going to be able to act a heck of a lot faster that we'll be able to see those sites redesigned or replaced.
