[Fed-Talk] Mail.mil and 'remembered certificates'

Earlier this week I had a bunch of hiccups with CAC access to various DoD websites. At first I thought my CAC reader was broken (and ordered another one.) Then the old reader started working again. It appears that the certificate server behind AKO and other Army.mil sites was "confused."
However, in the process I also managed to lose access to Mail.mil (DISA). The specific symptom was the server refusing the (secure) connection.
Thanks to a tip from Thursby Tech Support, I opened Keychain.app, looked for certificates stored/remembered for Mail.mil, removed them, and restarted Safari. When I did this, I was asked to identify the certificate, and Mail.mil requires not the normal PKI cert, but the mail encryption cert. Once I tagged that cert, Mail.mil loaded OK.
I wanted to share this in case someone else runs into the same problem.
