The _only_ reason Snow Leopard is still available for sale is because it's
the newest release that was shipped on physical media, and that's what is
needed to "get" the Mac App Store.
I'm a little surprised they're still selling it, to be honest. I would
have thought that Apple would have drawn a line in the sand and said "If
you haven't upgraded past Leopard by now, you're not going to."
I totally agree, though, that a formal policy would be great AND useful.
