It appears a lot of people are having scanner problems not confined to one vendor. I have a Canon 4400F that worked great in 10.8, nothing in 10.9. It does show in system profiler however it says it isn't configured. It isn't listed in the "add printer or scanner" window. I repaired permissions, no joy. Awaiting fix......
