- Thread-topic: [Fed-Talk] The Joys of FIPS
For 10.8 it has allowed us to switch to FV2. We are in the process of converting people on request, or as a part of the replacement lifecycle.
For iOS it made us feel better!
We also were considering allowing our data to be stored outside the Good sandbox. Now that iOS 7 is out, and is not FIPS validated, we have to rethink. We also need to let Apple and community find the security holes in 7 (like the recent lock screen bypass,
even with it's easy fix) so we can redevelop a best practices guide for our users.
With the possible eminent demise of BlackBerry, we may have 3000 BB phones to replace. The iPhone is looking good, albeit an expensive option (especially when you add in Good). When are we going to see the $100 iPhone? :-)
As long as the FIPS requirement hangs over our heads, we have limited choices.

Open Question
Anyone else want to share the impact of the previous FIPS 140-2 validations for Crypto used by iOS 6 / OS X 10.8 were within their respective Agency/Area ?
