This change is because Yosemite creates CoreStorage volumes on qualifying machines:

Once your boot volume is a CoreStorage volume, the recovery partition no longer appears when you hold down the Option key. This behavior can also observed with FileVault 2-encrypted Macs and Macs that have Fusion drives, since those also utilize CoreStorage volumes.
Thanks,
Rich

The only way you get to the Yosemite Recovery Partition is by holding down Command-R (I wish Apple would change this back, it was quite convenient to see Recovery Partition when you held down Option, if nothing else it was one less key combination to remember :-)
