I actually found a coupon and bought the +ID one a few days ago, awaiting delivery - mainly since I'm curious about the on-board storage via SD, since combining that, with say a custom VMWare/VirtualBox image or the DOD remote access image (LPS - http://spi.dod.mil/lipose.htm) to allow for a nice and compact CAC/PIV-inclusive remote access solution. Currently the ones with non-removable storage are about $100+, this ($41) solution makes it a bit more affordable given the dropping cost of the SD cards too. I have the SCM one as well, and it's relatively sturdy, but I have had the "arms" go wonky on it having had it rumble around in my purse.
The "design" from Apple with the USB and other ports and the reader does cause a little conflict, but getting a cheapo USB extension cable would be worthwhile too, if a little unsightly. On the new Retina MBP, the right side is a little less obtrusive, given it's only blocking the HDMI port versus the Thunderbolt and other ports on the left.
When the +ID comes in, I'll forward up a review to this group.
