Have you installed the SDK or just the public PR2 release? You must have the SDK to get the headers, docs and examples. In the SDK, there is headerdoc located in the IOBluetooth.framework which is accessible directly from ProjectBuilder (expand the framework and you should see a documentation entry). On the filesystem, it is in /System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Resources/English.lproj/Documentation/Reference. There's no real concepts or overview docs, but the headerdoc does contain fairly complete documentation of the API itself. At the risk of sounding dumb-er Samples are part of the SDK and versions of the SDK have been posted. To download them, developers should log into the ADC Member Site and then go to Download Software. The SDK provides several sample applications that introduce specific Bluetooth APIs. Once installed, Bluetooth samples can be found on your OS X volume under Developer/Examples/Bluetooth. I hope this isn't an even dumber answer to your potentially "dumb" sounding question. In addition to this list for info, we (Apple) are about to post a "Bluetooth" developer page as a repository for just this kind of info. I'll send a notice over this list when it's posted and where it can be found. Feedback WILL be welcome. Bonding / Pairing

Hi, Are there any API's available / planned that one can use to do bonding / pairing. When you use the term stack with regard to the chip, I assume you are talking about the HCI portion of the stack. Apple has provided an implementation of the upper layers of the stack (L2CAP, RFCOMM, SDP, OBEX) and a driver for a USB implementation of the HCI layer. If the chip you use supports the USB HCI specification your module should just work with the software provided by Apple. If you choose to go the Serial route, you will need to provide an OS X driver which will interface between the Apple stack, and your serial hardware. Most Bluetooth chip providers have a USB version of their silicon. Hi, I'm a CE student and looking into developing my own prototype Bluetooth module. But currently I'm having a little trouble finding suitable Bluetooth chips for testing/developing. What advice could you give me for selecting a good chip (preferably with stack onchip)? Maybe a list of manufactures would be nice. Thanks for the reply, Bubba Unfortunately, JNI requires some knowledge of the native language that the library was created in. Of which, I have very little experience. It would be nice if the JNI or JDirect3 code was already generated so that others beside myself can benefit from a Java Bluetooth interface to the module.
