There is no known no problem with the application quitting while doing bluetooth transactions. However the bluetooth stack is not thread safe. So you must run all the bluetooth code in the same thread. ... When I exit my application while a second thread exists which is trying to connect to a Bluetooth device, I can't launch the application again. I get the error message: "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -600)." After doing some testing, it appears as though the OS still thinks the app is running. I found this out by trying to trash the application, but the Finder won't let me because it says the app is open. Well, I check Activity Monitor and see that the app isn't running anymore, but you can't convince the Finder of that. I have narrowed the situation down somewhat. This problem only happens in 10.3 (10.3.2). Everything works fine in 10.2.x. Linux and FreeBSD mask these entry points pretty well by using the standard socket API (although only Linux supports SCO links at this stage due to FreeBSD having some problems with isochronous transfers that are being worked on). Bob, I believe I can help in answering this question if someone from Apple has not yet intercepted it. The SCO link will, from what I understand, not be directly available to developers. It will instead be implemented as an audio driver and to use it it would be setup just like other audio devices opening or closing a sound channel. Since a SCO link would require userland calls as entry points into the kernel, I think Apple is trying to not to allow bad things that could happen. These are just my thoughts. As far as when? I asked back in the fall and heard the word "soon". But when that means, who knows. ;-) I'm sure they are working very hard to make everything just right. I looked back through the mail list archives and found this same issue has come up 3 times, each with no response or resolution. So since the bluetooth guys over at Apple seem to not be very responsive about this topic, I went ahead and filed a bug, #3533558. Ok, I can understand the security concerns with such a utility. But why still include a useless utility with the developer tools?
