choosing a RFCOMMChannel channelID ?

hi ! i'm creating a simple BlueTooth phone number dialer/SMS manager. I've succeeded creating a RFCOMMChannel to my T68i and i have avoided using /dev/modem unix style device connection. here is how i open the RFCOMMChannel : [mainBTDevice openRFCOMMChannelSync:&modemConnectionChannel withChannelID:1 delegate:self]; the problem is how to choose my channelID: i have tried to do like Apple with their chat client/server example but it does not really work in my case because i do not need to publish a service... i've tried random channel from 0 to 10, only the channel from 1 to 5 seems to work for me to connect to my T68i modem. How am i supposed to choose the channelID ? is it a manufacturer document ? can i be sure the channel is available and not already in use ? am i supposed to scan channelID until connection succeed ? Trying to connect to a device

Hi list. I'm trying to connect to a phone device until it is reachable. I followed good advices from the list telling me to not retry too quickly to avoid airport and other wireless devices problems. So here is my problem, code follows. With this code, it works almost perfectly, but sometimes, after a long period of "retrying" (device has gone for hours or less, and is back), it seem it is impossible to get connected again, According to last line of log ("Connecting...") it seem the connection result is never called. I made some tests arounf this withPageTimeout: parameters without knowing exactly what it does, but this value gave me reasonable connectionn timeout, but If someone can tell me what the "page" mean ! And last, if someone has a good experience of this kind of algorithm, or can tell me the best way to continuously try to get a device, I would be happy to know ! tre dots on bluetooth symbol in menubar

Hello, This might be an easy question, but I can't find a FAQ anywhere. I'm opening a connection to a bluetooth phone and then opening an RFComm connection to it. I think I'm closing everything the way I should, when my app quits, but the bluetooth symbol in the menu bar goes gray with three horizontal dots thru it, and I can't open a RFcomm connection next time I start my app. Is there anything I should know about to do this properly? - Also, if my app crashes I get the three dots. I have to turn bluetooth off/on to get a RF connection next time round. Is there an API call to reset things if so I don't have to do it manually? I'm curious what do you mean "enable/disable" ? Sorry, I don't seem to be very good at forming complete sentences at the moment! I meant enable or disable the state of the BT module - ie, controlling the powersaving state of internal bluetooth modules. I had a hunt through the bluetooth headers a while back for this, but it has just occurred to me I may have been looking in the wrong place. I've started skimming through some of the IOKit power management docs, but have little idea where to start; is this the correct place to look? This never used to respond at all for me, but now works correctly - so i think they changed something :) I notice that the Apple BT File Exchange app knows if the BT module is powered-up - is there a new method that I have missed that reports the power state? Have a look at IOBluetoothLocalDeviceGetPowerState. I do have a supplementary question, though - does anyone know a way to enable or disable the BT module? Now it returns True if the bluetooth is there, but turned off. Bug - BT File Transfer App uses wrong Channel for OBEX Pushes

Hi, Just thought I'd mention a bug in the Apple BT File Exchange app that I just filed: (radar Bug ID# 369122) The Apple BT File Exchange app appears to use the "OBEX File Exchange" channel for both "OBEX File Exchange" and "OBEX Push" Most people won't find this a problem, but it seems that Motorola's phones don't like Java Apps being transferred via the File Exchange Channel.
