Java? I think you have a wrong conception of how to deal with the phone. Basically, your application connects via some means of "simulated" serial port (e.g over bluetooth or USB) to the phone. For imlementing that connection you need a programming language that can deal with the appropriate frameworks - BT, USB etc.. Once the connection is established, you can send AT commands to the phone using [rfcommChannel writeSync:"AT+BRSF=0\r" length:10] as an example. Check out 'rfcommChannelOpenComplete' method in RFCOMMSPPTestControl.mm. In the comments it describes how to do all of this. Hope that helps. -Harel I'm attempting a project to set the alarm on my Mac to the same time as the alarm on my K800 SE phone. Wonder if I could as this list for some advice please. What would be the most appropriate language to write this app in? How would I go about getting started? So far I've figured out that sony uses 'AT' commands that can be passed to the phone and get a return. There can be an array of different alarms and the alarms may be recurrent. When the alarm is timed out and exe- cuted, the unsolicited result code +CALV is returned, even if the alarm is set up to be silent. The alarm time is set in hours and minutes. Recently G4 based users have been complaining that the framework does not work for them. I tried the framework on a G4 based mini running Leopard and have had the same problem. Unfortunately, I don't have a 10.4 G4 machine to test on. (I have an Intel iMac and I've tested the framework with no problem on a MacBook Pro). The Wiimote is discovered using [IOBlutoothDeviceInquiry inquiryWithDelegate:]. Then the sequence is something like: [wiimoteDevice openConnection] ... [wiimoteDevice performSDPQuery:nil] ... [wiimoteDevice openL2CAPChannelSync:&ichan withPSM:19 delegate:self] // open input channel ... [wiimoteDevice openL2CAPChannelSync:&cchan withPSM:17 delegate:self] // open output channel Then various methods use [cchan writeSync:buf length:length] to send commands to the wiimote and there is an l2capChannelData: method to handle incoming data from the Wiimote. The problem is that the wiimote is discovered, the input and output channels appear to be opened, but then once commands start being sent to the Wiimote the connection is dropped/goes away. I've tried sprinkling "usleep(10000); // wait 10ms" liberally throughout the code to keep from overwhelming the wiimote with traffic, but it doesn't seem to help (on my Leopard machine). Any hints on how I might go about debugging this problem? Also, the COD of a discovered device is included in the HCI Inquiry Results, so this value could directly be used, if a device is reported. I've read in the BT docs, that the amount of Inquiries are throttled. What are the parameters for that ? Once every 10 seconds, every minute, every hour? I tried to call clearFoundDevices on the IOBluetoothDeviceInquiry object, but no change. Ok. Is there a way to "force" the bluetooth framework to use the real discovered CODs or to discard its cache? So far I am just implementing the routines to detect and find devices in range. I am using inquiries from <IOBluetooth/IOBluetoothUserLib.h> because I cannot and don't want to display any GUI element. Now, I have 2 questions: 1 - I have read online that Apple doesn't really recommend to use inquiries to search for Bluetooth devices, however - if I don't want any GUI or window to pop-up - it seems inquiries are the only method... or am I overlooking something? Is there a better way to do it? 2 - (It is probably related to 1) My compiler (X-Code) says that pretty much all functions called from IOBluetoothUserLib.h are deprecated. My driver finds Bluetooth devices anyway, however things don't run as smooth and are not as stable as I would like. (sometimes devices are not found right away and I have to perform more inquiries, some other times IOBluetoothUserLib.h functions return errors and are not able to open the needed channels, etc...) I am wondering if there's a better solution to do what I am doing. Let me know if seeing some code might help to address the issue. I have no problem sharing my code.
