Serial ports on OS X are represented by a tty in /dev. MFI and BLE

Hi there, I know that a BLE accessory developer does not need to apply for an MFI membership, but I had a question regarding this: does being part of the MFI give the developer special permissions to the app? By that I mean things like being able to place a call, accessing the Message database (SMS + iMessage), the email inbox and similar information. Hi Don, The LE Peripheral is responsible for setting the appropriate connection interval. The App can not control the connection interval directly. The App can however talk to the LE Peripheral over GATT and ask the Peripheral to request a change to the connection interval. There are some restriction on what connection parameters the iPhone 4S will accept. The rules for connection parameters are detailed in the Apple Bluetooth Guidelines, see https://developer.apple.com/hardwaredrivers/BluetoothDesignGuidelines.pdf Looking at an air trace will probably be the best way to help you get a better understanding of what is going on. This also suggests that the connector (the application connecting to the advertising peripheral node) specifies connection parameters. But I see no way to specify the initial parameters via Core Bluetooth. There is a BLE protocol that allows the peripheral to negotiate connection parameters that are more to its liking. I haven't looked in a packet trace yet to see if the negotiation is going on, will do that soon.
