The Bluegiga dongle doesn't claim to implement any sort of standard HCI interface. Unless the simulator or OS X had specific code to support it (and the dongle was flashed with the right firmware and configuration), I wouldn't expect it to work. I have also tried a CSR dongle, and it doesn't work with the simulator. I have also searched for some specific recommendation of what dongles or chipsets are support, and haven't found anything definitive. That little bit of information might be helpful to have published somewhere. Louis Mamakos On Aug 28, 2012, at 8:34 PM, Rick Mann <rmann@latencyzero.com> wrote:
I have the BlueGiga dongle, and I have not been able to get it to work, but I have not tried very hard.

Not on mid-2011 Macs without built-in BT 4.0. I've tried three separate BTLE dongles (TI, BlueGiga, and CSR) and none of them work. This is under Mountain Lion with iOS 5.1 and 6 simulators.
Filed rdar://12193315 for these.

I use the Cirago dongle with no problems on 10.7.3 (Lion) - but unfortunately it doesn't appear to work with Mountain Lion (10.8)

Hi, I tested the procedure described in the document: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#technotes/tn2295/_index.html#//appl... OSX10.8.1 without success.
So it seems that the problem persists :-(
