Scott, HID is only partially supported. For example, a mouse won't work, but a keyboard will. Those devices are managed directly by iOS, there's no way for you app to intercept the traffic. iOS 6 does not support HID over GATT. However, iOS 7 may do so (ask in the forums for confirmation because we are not allowed to talk about iOS 7 on this list). Regarding a general profile support: iOS 6 does not support any BT 4.0 profiles natively. For iOS 7 => forums, again. sorry :-) Etan On 30.08.2013, at 21:54, Scott Hamilton <scotth@concept2.com> wrote:
I'm trying to find out if a peripheral device can talk to iOS 7 (or 6) "App" using the HID protocol under GATT on Bluetooth Smart (BLE 4.0). The device in question is NOT truly a HID device in the strict sense (it's not a keyboard, mouse, etc.) but we have traditionally wrapped our data in HID to utilize built in drivers under Win and OSX.
Another question (also asked by Laura Kasso: http://lists.apple.com/archives/bluetooth-dev/2013/Aug/msg00019.html) is this: Is there a list of BT 4.0 standard profiles that iOS supports? EG Heartrate, HID, etc.?
Thanks, Scott
