Sounds like a great situation in which to file a bug report ;)

After upgrading to the latest iOS 10, we've found a few things have changed with regard to BLE MTU.
1. Before iOS 10, even if we request MTU larger than 158, the iOS device only returns 158 as MTU. But the limit seems to be remove on iOS 10.
2. We've found that if we request MTU > 158, there will be some garbage data at the end of each packet we received from the iOS device. And sometimes the packet from iOS device will be delayed for quite some time (~10s).
Are these changes intended or as result of the beta version? _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. They will be ignored.
