How iPhoto for iOS send photo via Bluetooth?

Hi, Recently I just find that iPhoto for iOS can send photo via Bluetooth (Beam Photo). I switched off the WiFi on both iOS devices and one iOS device running iPhoto succeeded sent photos to other device. Is there any details on how it works?
