Would a demo mode be an alternative within the app? So that the app can be used with a simulated peripheral? This also helps users to understand what your app does without buying the accessory.

My app depends pretty heavily on BLE to "unlock" the rest of the UI. I can't test very much of my app without BLE.
The device is slow. Maybe if Apple hadn't gotten rid of Firewire, or if they'd move to Thunderbolt, but for now, it takes a long time to install a build, and to exchange debugging data, on a device.
