Re: BT 1.5 SCO-audio and Eri HBH-10
Additionally, the HBH-10 headset isn't officially supported (nor is the HBH-15). The HBH-10 and HBH-15 headsets were actually developed before the 1.1 version of the Bluetooth specification and as such behave differently enough that we have problems communicating with them. - Eric On Feb 6, 2004, at 3:37 PM, Bubba Giles wrote:
Hi Ragnar,
The BSA will not display SCO devices in any list if you do not have a
dongle
that supports SCO. This was deliberate, since you can't use the SCO
device
without the proper hardware, and we didn't want users thinking they
could.
The pairing panel lets you pair with anything, but as you have
noticed, it
does not set up the device fully for proper use with the system. It is
more
of a 'power-user' backdoor to simply pair with any device.

Hello all,
Sorry for this kind of user oriented question, but:
Has anyone got the Bluetooth Setup Assistant to work with
the very old (the first?) BT headset Ericsson HBH-10?
The assistans intermitantly says "Updating 1 name(s)", but
then it goes back to "Searching for devices - 0 found.").
Pairing through the control panel works fine, it gets it's
name and all, but then I don't get any audio channel set up.
It also works in 10.2.8 with assistant and stack 1.3.3.
So there seems to be a difference in how the 1.5
Bluetooth Setup Assistant and the control panel reads names
or some other information from devices, and the former fails,
but I can't say that there is a bug, the headset may very will
be doing something wrong (I think it was made far before BT 1.0b).
Maybe I should add that I don't have a SCO supported dongle, but
I beleive that pairing should work anyway, with or without audio.
I have tried with two different USB dongles. Getting a SCO
supported dongle (or at least what seems to be a supported
dongle ;-) is another story.
This is no big deal, I can buy a modern headset and/or a
supported dongle, I just wanted to play a little.
