All USB dongles?
Yep, provided the USB dongle follows the Bluetooth spec, they should just work. That being said, we have seen 3Com dongles that don't even show up as USB devices in the system, so our stuff doesn't even get loaded against it. So, first verify that the 3Com dongle shows up in the system. You can run Apple System Profiler and it should be in the 'devices' tab. If it is not there, I would say the dongle is defective. If it does, then the problem is most likely ours.
Hmm...
I own the Dlink module and it works fine, but my Mac doesn't work with the
3Com USB module.
How do you generate a System Profiler or USB prober report?
To generate a System Profiler report, launch the app in /Applications/Utilities/Apple System Profiler and then choose 'New Report' from the File menu and send us the generated file. It would also be interesting to see what has printed out in the /var/log/system.log file and in the console, if anything. USB Prober is apparently not released for Mac OS X yet, although I thought it was. So ignore that idea... jason

Subject: Re: Bluetooth USB devices
I have tried the TDK USB dongle, but it is unrecognized. Our development USB
dongle, Psion works plug-n-play with the Apple Bluetooth stack. Anyone know
of other working USB Bluetooth compatibles?
There is no reason why the TDK should not work, we have one here and it is
working fine for us. You might be sure the firmware you have is up to date,
depending on when you bought it. If it is not working, if you could send us
a System profiler report (or even better, a USB prober printout), that might
help us figure out why. Also, you cannot plug the TDK dongle into the
keyboard, as it requires too much power. But you should get a warning that
tells you that...
Our stack should work with all USB dongles, provided they follow the
guidelines laid out in the Bluetooth Spec.
