The same behaviour can be seen on my colleagues PowerBook. The PDA- Sync-Service cannot be disabled. Nor can its name be changed or any other attribute. If I click on enable/disable, PacketLogger does not show any activity. For the other services that I can enable/disable in the SystemPreferences, I can see communication happening in PacketLogger. On my MacBook, I can see that the Bluetooth-PDA-Sync service is always listed as an available service. Even if I turn it off in the System preferences it can still be seen from the outside although a connection to it times out with no connection beeing finally established. In Packet logger I can see the connection request until some message "SABM for channel 3' from the remote side which is not answered (a normal service would answer with "UA for channel 3").
