WiFi & the iPod Touch
site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: bluetooth-dev@lists.apple.com Thread-index: AcjV3iiPZwrqFkHREd2dUAAf81C/bw== Thread-topic: WiFi & the iPod Touch User-agent: Microsoft-Entourage/11.3.6.070618 Apologies for the non-Bluetooth nature of this question, but after extensive searching I could find no better list to use for my query. My question regards the iPod Touch, and its out-of-the-box WiFi capabilities. We are using an Ad-Hoc WiFi network, and wish to connect a new iPod Touch to it. Our problem appears to be that the iPod wants to make a first-time connection to an Infrastructure-mode WiFi AP first, maybe in order to send a 'Hello' message to an Apple server. After making this first-time connection, the iPod can connect to an Ad-Hoc WiFi AP fine. My question is, can anyone suggest how we could use an Ad-Hoc WiFi network for an iPod connection out of the box? Can the iPod be fooled into connecting to the internet via Ad-Hoc WiFi the first time? Any / all guidance or referral within Apple or the dev community very much appreciated.
