We currently have a hardware provider that gave us a BLE device with which we are interacting with our app. But for the past few months, they haven't been responsive and we need to find someone else to help us. If there is a way to change our current device's firmware, even better. But starting from scratch could be an option as well. Currently, what we are trying to do is to be able to find out when an incoming SMS or Message arrives at the phone and let the app know so it can act on it.
