The receiver of the file is the party that decides if authentication is needed or not. If you do not get a paring request when transferring a file is either because: 1] the receiver does not require it. 2] the receiver was previously paired with your mac (trough an eralier connection, or setup trough the setup assistant). When I use the 'Bluetooth File Exchange' application I can send files to an unpaired device without the need of Authentication (i.e. specifying a password on the external device to be retyped on OS X). How can I do the same by the standard Bluetooth APIs? I have tried several ways without success, i.e. I always end up with the authentication request. Is Apple using a special hidden API for it's 'Bluetooth File Exchange' or is there an official way to do the same? _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
