10.5.6 HCIController changes

Bluetooth-dev mailing list (Bluetooth-dev@lists.apple.com) Help/Unsubscribe/Update your Subscription: http://lists.apple.com/mailman/options/bluetooth-dev/site_archiver%40lists.a... Since upgrading to 10.5.6, we can no longer use the 3rd party bluetooth USB dongles that we'd been using on 10.5.5. The driver is sending a new command to the device: On 10.5.6, Packet Logger shows: HCI_Command: 0x04 - Unknown Informational Command 0x00000000: 04 10 01 01 :.... This appears to be a request for READ_LOCAL_EXTENDED_FEATURES with a page number parameter of 1. This command makes the 3rd party bluetooth dongle go catatonic and it stops responding to requests. I'm assuming this is a bug in the dongle, but just a heads up that 10.5.6 has some changes which might cause trouble for customers using non-Apple BT modules. Apple BlueTooth folks: please let me know if you want more information. We're going to try and test some USB dongles from other manufacturers today in order to see if the problem is limited to this particular device. ------------------------------------- "The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair." - Douglas Adams This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
