How to add an application to the login items?

Hi there. I, like you, am a Cocoa Programmer. I marvel at the luxuries of programming in Cocoa. Yet just sometimes, we programmers have our problems. Well I was wondering if anybody knows how to add an application to the login items in system preferences. Please help...
