cant get ICC profile 'Rename' script to work OS10.9

Hi List members Hoping you can help me. I like to change the internal name of an ICC profile to the file name using using the OS Rename script. script located in... Macintosh HD/Library/Scripts/Colorsync/Rename or via alais in the Macintosh HD/Library/Colorsync folder The Problem. OS 10.9 Rename script says it changed the internal name of the ICC profile.. but it hasn't. When I open the ICC profile with colorsync utility it tells me the internal description has not been changed. And photoshop sees the old name too. Version 4 profiles and version 2 profiles behave a little differently in when it comes to trying to renaming them in the color sync utility. I only have partial success renaming v2 profiles and no success at all renaming version 4 profiles with the colorsync utility in 10.9. I'd prefer to use the script if I can. Permissions? Thinking it may have been a write permission issue I copied a profile to the desktop. same behavior. set permissions on ICC profiles to wrx wrx wrx still no joy. OS10.7 ... working fine Moved the Profiles back to my Os 10.7 Workstation and Rename worked just fine there. opening with colorsync utility on 10.7 I could see that the internal name had been changed. moved these files back to our 10.9 workstations and the re-naming works just as I would have expected. Anyone else experiencing having issues with the rename script in OS10.9? Regards Peter Miles

Thanks to Andrew and Steve for quick and informative replies. One question remains. The "stats" from xRite are based on the i1Pro2 and I'm talking about the i1Pro. Would the inter-instrument agreement specs. be the same (or close) for both instruments? Hello All: Is there some "rule of thumb" regarding spectrophotometers and inter-instrument agreement? A situation can and has appeared where we are using an I1Pro measuring the IdeAlliance colour bar. When we read the chart/bar and have the printer read the very same chart using the same brand of spectrophotometer, same Rev., same settings, same backing, etc. we get different readings. Readings where our proof may "Pass" and their measurements will generate a "fail". Obviously this is an issue. What can be done about it? Thanks Mike Stewart

Fogra Symposium - Munich 2014

Hello All: Any information regarding Fogra 52 Profile or Dataset coming from the Fogra Symposium? I followed a thread, joined the Fogra Mailing List and from there I became lost. Website says to join the Fogra 52 Beta users list and also the Fogra members. I cannot tell if I actually joined the members list; or if the Fogra 52 Beta is actually not ready for download. I'm just confused (as usual) but wondering if I have done something wrong. I am quite interested in Fogra 52. Mike Stewart

Hi Mark, ³Certification² is awarded by IDEAlliance to either people (G7 experts), or systems (G7 certified proofing systems, as you mentioned). Just because a system is certified does not mean it¹s proofs are certified it just means that the system is capable of producing a proof that is within the tolerances of SWOP or GRACoL. SWOP and GRACoL are CMYK-based specifications, so there is really no such thing as SWOP and GRACoL certified (or anything¹d) RGB. If you are preparing your images to be reproduced in a SWOP/GRACoL print condition, you should create a proof of those images, converted into SWOP/GRACoL and include a control wedge that can be measured to confirm that your proof is within specification. It is the measurements of the proof control wedge that will dictate whether or not the proof is within specification of SWOP or GRACoL (not anything else). >From an RGB retouching perspective, not something you should need to worry about. You might consider retouching in the colorspace you are creating the images for. There is always confusion on "g7certified" vs "g7 qualified". Certification is given to systems that have met G7 requirements per IDEAlliance. Qualification is given to operations that have demonstrated ability to proof or print to G7 specifications. In the case of the photographer who provides neither proofs nor prints, qualification may not be relevant, though he probably should be prepared to demonstrate that his monitors are capable of compliance with G7 requirements. Hello all - I am a retoucher helping a commercial photographer bid on a job. One of the questions was "are you GraCol / SWOP certified?". To my understanding, that is a way of proving that your proofing system is capable of printing within specified tolerances. The photographer will not be doing any proofing, and will just be providing RGB images to be used for e-commerce.
