Turn off color management!

I’ve got a Canon iPF8100. In the past, I’ve done all my printing via Canon’s plugin for Photoshop. For lots and lots of reasons, that’s no longer an option. I’ve switched to Affinity Photo, the version of the plugin for Canon’s Digital Picture Pro won’t work with images over 16” wide (at 600 ppi), an old laptop that I could run Photoshop on doesn’t have nearly enough RAM to work with large images, and on and on and on. In short, I need to be able to print from within arbitrary applications. The plugin made it trivial to turn off all color management. But, for the life of me, I can’t seem to get El Capitan to stop “helpfully” distorting print colors beyond all recognition. All I want is for the print driver to send the data unmodified to the printer. Is that really too much to ask for? Can anybody suggest a way to do it? (I do all my color management manually with Argyll. To build profiles I obviously need to turn off OS-level color management. And it also needs to be off for final printing, as well, since I’m using Argyll again to do all the transformations. Yes, most people need their hands held. Hello Graeme! Thank you very much! It's very interesting research! By the way, just as an idea - is it possible to make special "cleaning" utility for i1Pro and Spectrolino, which will turn lamp on forcibly for some seconds to "clean" it? It would be great, because Lino has no possibility to measure strips, so it's not possible to "clean" the lamp with the native measurements. Also I think it can help to restore some i1Pro lamps because when the lamp became too dark, the software failed to calibrate it, so it's not possible to "clean" the lamp with the regular strip measurements. What do you thing about it? Whether it can help to restore lamps? Any experience out there in manipulating lab data for profiles? I’d sometimes like to force the profiling software (i1Profiler) to pick a different TAC than it’s default. I THINK it picks its TAC preferring minimum chroma and I want to allow I little more chroma and pick a lower L*. Dear Greame and list, i1Diagnostics does indeed automatically detect and correct this lamp problem with a „lamp restore“ - that’s what happened when I tested my overly drifting i1Pro2 a few weeks ago. This process was triggered and started automatically, drifting problem was gone afterwards. Since I didn't know what had just happended to my device, I wrote an E-Mail to X-Rite support and got a reply from Liane Mai, where she explained the behavior and the reason with the tungsten deposits on the bulb glass. It's a bit hard to know exactly what he means, but a "rich black" is a specific color, so that is going to be addressed in a DLP. Assuming he's not talking about that but rather the black point of the profile, he may really mean allowing more chroma as a tradeoff for getting a darker black. i1P won't allow you to specify the precise composition of the profile black point (unless I missed it somewhere). Hi Dan. Nothing could be easier to change than TAC in i1P: In Profile Settings there is a slider for it. To preserve a specific build for a rich black you would need to make a device link with that rule. Hello Bob!
