Hi Martin I did a few tests in i1P and confirm your findings. The "Intelligent Black" feature does odd thing when it thinks TAC should be low and the Max K separation/width is contributing to the low yellow. I've had issues with the settings for digital as have others online. I remade the profile with the same data and it was fine, so it's an i1P thing. I've never got an answer or seen one from X-Rite on the issue. Heh, I got the same message on my P5000 two days ago. I also tried everything except Power Cleaning, but also without any success. I also tried to update printer's firmware, but also without success because the printer is in Unknown state (as shown thru printer's web interface), not in Ready state. I found the following description of similar warning in P20000 guide: =============================== Perform Powerful Cleaning on all nozzles. You have not cleaned the print head nozzles in six months and Timer Cleaning is set to Off. Run a Powerful Cleaning cycle in the Administrator menu. =============================== It seems Epson made this special feature to prevent head clogging... If the scanner still works and you consider that it's able to yield quality scan then you could seriously consider acquiring a dongle to drive it through ColorQuest. I, personally, never used that scanner so I would not know what's it worth, in terms of quality. The dongle may be expensive but it may also give you the latest version of their software. I'd suggest you take a look at eBay first... You never know. ColorQuest dongle

Hello ColorSync community, you have been recommended by a fellow over at photo.net forum. For the past month or so I have been on the search for a USB dongle, that will allow myself to run ColorQuest to control my Scanmate 3000 drum scanner. I do not know how their company works, but did notice they are still releasing new software for OSX10. Would you purchase a dongle through their company, I would very much be interested in doing so as my scanner has been purchased second hand without one. Ben K.

Convert CIE xyY to Photoshop D50/2 CIE Lab

I been measuring flowers with one of my colorimeter. The petals of one such flower, lit by noon direct sunlight, gave me the following CIE xyY 1931/2 coordinates: CIE x = 0.3058 CIE y = 0.2053 CIE Y = 846 cd/m2 I took a picture of the flower and would like to use these coordinates as a guide for color correction. My question is how do I convert xyY to Photoshop's Lab? Not an easy problem, I know, that's why I turn to you guys for any help. Best / Roger
