We have all Macs and for some reason an alias did not occur to me. I tried it and it does in fact work. If I don't change the name of the network profile, but I make a new one with the same name, the alias appears to continue to link correctly. So finally I have a way to update just one profile and everyone will have it automatically. I wish I thought of this years ago! Thanks for the suggestion. Have you tried putting an alias to your network ICC folder in your local profile folder? I cannot test this right now, but I know that aliases do work between the various local ICC folders so I'm thinking as long as your users have the appropriate network volume mounted it could do the trick.
This would be a Mac-centric solution BTW; I have no way to test if a Windows shortcut would work the same way (I guess it depends on whether Windows would "follow" a shortcut to its source when scanning the profile folder).

I have multiple workstations that all need to print to multiple servers. Currently we just manually distribute new profiles anytime we need to update them, but this is cumbersome and error prone (if someone overlooks installing the new profile, for example).
I am writing today to ask if anyone knows of a way to include ICC profiles in the system that are located on a server rather than on the local disk. I know there are many places profiles can be located, but I don't know of any way to place them centrally on a server so that they are automatically available on the local computers. This way I could update a printer profile in one place and everyone would make use of it.
I doubt this is possible, but it's worth asking anyhow!
Thanks in advance. Ken Fleisher
