i1 Profiler Scanner module, clipping white

Creating scanner input profiles with the scanner module in i1 Profiler seems to create profiles that clip the white point. I created a Version 4 profile that clips more than a Version 2. Scanned a Colorchecker 24 and then processed in i1 Profiler. The resulting profile used in Epson Scan application clips the white patch perilously close to pure white with a Version 4 icc profile. Of course I am using the Colorsync configuration in the scanning application. The Version 2 clips less but still pushes the white patch high enough to cause potential clipping in originals that are brighter than the white patch of the Colorchecker 24. Anyone experience this?
