On those printers that’s usually caused by poor seating of the print heads into the carriage assembly. Canon’s tech showed me that they install heads pushing the seat quite firmly back against the contacts, and close the arms with similar force to ensure a quite snug fit. It could also be caused by a failing vacuum pump which is not easy to replace yourself. The design in the Pro-x000 printers is much improved and I haven’t experiences this yet on any of them. My own 6 year old Pro-4000 is running flawlessly to this day on all it’s original parts, including the print head. Scott Martin www.on-sight.com Imaging Science for Art
