It's the number of passes. If the print head is new you may not detect any difference. As it gets clogged or partially clogged over time the extra passes may have a marked effect on hiding the defect.

We installed the first of our Epson 4900's and I have a question about the print settings. Does anyone know what is the difference between "Fine - 1440 dpi" and "SuperPhoto - 1440 dpi"? The manual is completely useless. Obviously the SuperPhoto is supposed to be a better print quality, but what is it doing differently?
Thanks. Ken Fleisher
