Caldera's color management is perfectly straightforward, nothing proprietary or weird. It also supports a huge number of printer models. My only criticism of it is that, like Onyx, its interface is spread over many windows and is a bit unintuitive. If one can get past that it's fine, and their tech support has seemed pretty good. I should add that there are very few production if any RIPs whose color management is not straightforward. There are some that are easier to use and more productive in other respects. A few have the ability to recalibrate color without reprofiling, which is a definite advantage. Mike

Good Morning!
I have a client who is looking at purchasing a Caldera GrandRIP+ to drive several (3-4) grand format machines.
They have asked me for input, and frankly, I have no experience with this RIP or even printers of this size. I told them I would pass the question along to see if I could gather some info for them.
From what I gather online, Caldera seems to be a respected and powerful piece of software.
So… Just curious if anyone has anecdotal experience with this RIP, good or bad, and any caveats that I should pass along? Does this RIP lend itself to straightforward color management?
Many thanks!
