best synthetic cmyk edit space

ok—i wish to edit synthetic cmyk; i expect to print on quality stock—let’s say mohawk superfine white eggshell; as yet, i know not which press to target, but i should like to achieve excellent results: which space should i be in? one offering best chance for ripping into the widest possible gamut range of lithographic presses? tia & best, edward
