What should I upgrade to when I just want to have the features of iMatch?
If this is simply for monitor calibration/profiling (not printer profiling), and you have been using the same calibrator for 'many' years to calibrate a number of monitors, I recommend you look at replacing your calibrator to the new X-Rite calibrator with new software. Monitor technology has advanced over the past few years, and you also have to consider aging of the older types of monitor calibrator. Currently X-Rite have a special deal offering a 'trade-in' discount on new calibrators if you return your old device, which makes this an ideal time to replace the instrument. This Trade In discount is listed at www.colorconfidence.com who deliver across Europe. So how to choose between the ColorMunki Display or the i1 Display Pro? In comparison to the old limited feature i1 Display-LT and the full feature i1 Display-2, the new standard level ColorMunki Display has a comparable feature set to the old full featured i1 Display-2 plus a few more features and newer filtering technology in the instrument. Whereas the new i1 Display Pro offers quite a bit more for QA and operates at 5 times the speed. If you are upgrading from an old LT model, I expect you will be satisfied with the new ColorMunki Display, whereas if you currently have the i1 Display-2 model, I suggest that even if you are currently satisfied with the feature set you have, that its worth considering the new i1 Display Pro, for its future advantages to you and for its speed. Finally, if you intend to use the instrument with 3rd party software, such as SpectraView Profiler that is supplied with NEC monitors (or Eizo Color Navigator software), then you should take note that it is only the instrument supplied with the new i1 Display Pro model that will be compatible with such 3rd party solutions.
