Considering the benefits of all the MBP married tech (charger, speakers, camera, Thunderbolt, USB3, etc) I'd consider waiting for an updated fused glass LED Cinema Display and see what that looks like, and how it compares to the competition…. But if that choice is safer and more eyes friendly, I would stay with CCFL back-lighting such as with the trusted PA271W. I have Spyder Elite 3 to 4 and bascICColor 4 (with Spectrocam). If I can skip a bundle calibration package, it would be that much that I could add to the monitor itself. Not sure however whether these two would allow for a proper hardware calibration.
