I'm just wondering if it's a better buy to get the quad core version of the Mac Pro for less money and keep using my aging NEC PA30W monitor.
Huh? The cheapest Mac Pro is $3,000. The most expensive base-model iMac is $2,300. Configure said iMac with more RAM than the Pro and the top-option CPU and it's still only at $2,750. Max out all the options on the iMac and you're at $4,150; do the same with the Pro and it's over twice as much. And the iMac has a display whose specs, on paper, are awfully respectable; I don't think Apple is even selling standalone displays any more, so no Pro is sold with one. There's lots to be said in favor of the Pro...but "less money" is pretty emphatically not one of them. b&
