I hope the question does not assume an either/or choice. I assume that whatever front end is used to color manage the press rides on top of the Indigo's own calibration. In that case do a LUT generation prior to profiling and on a regular basis after that to return the Indigo as much as possible to the condition the profile is founded on. Also pay close attention to the age of the pip and blanket as these will affect the color output--try to characterize at mid-life if possible.

Are there any figures available for the difference in gamut of a G7 compliant HP Indigo compared to one that runs the HP recommended machine calibration?
