Hi David, Even soft-proofing, it depends on how you've set it up......you can set your soft-proof prefs to simulate a profile *conversion* (rendering intent, ya-da, ya-da) or *assigning* a profile (preserve values). Soft-proofing a profile conversion is the more typical usage....but you need to check to be sure that's what your settings are doing. Good question Iliah. I go to view, choose the custom paper profile and click. Also, command y does the same thing once the particular paper profile is chosen. I am using rpp 64 exclusively.
