I would like to find an obnoxiously strong optically brightened inkjet paper to conduct color separations experiments using M1 colorimetry, on an Epson printer. Last time, I used Epson Doubleweight Matte paper for this purpose which was around : CIE b* = - 9.00 to -10.00, give or take. (Lost the measurement files…) I was up on Epson web site, earlier, looking for “specs” for that very paper but could not find anything “useful”, to give me some indication of the degree of optical brightening ☹. I eventually landed on this page : https://epson.com/For-Work/Paper/Presentation/Doubleweight-Matte-Paper/m/S04... Sadly (big sigh!), Epson does not offer any “numbers” on their web site for their papers, not that I’ve seen, other than, possibly, “ISO Brightness”. I don’t suppose one could go from “ISO Brightness = 84%” to anything remotely useful for colorimetry? Epson “Enhanced Matte Paper”, on the other hand : https://epson.com/For-Work/Paper/Presentation/Enhanced-Matte-Paper/m/S041725 seems to suggest higher OB content than Doubleweight Matte, with ISO Brightness = 104%? Still, no mention of measured substrate (unprinted media) color…. A quick trip down the C:\Windows\...\color directory on my Dell computer turns out the following Epson ICC profile (installed by the driver for the Epson SureColor P5000 printer): SC-P5000_Series_LLK EnhancedMattePaper_PK.icc According to this ICC profile (ICC Profile Inspector.exe), White Point is : CIE XYZ = 88.13 91.68 75.38 or CIE Lab = 96.69 -0.47 0.21 Seems dubious, at best? CIE b* should be way more “negative” than this? Hate to ask but would anyone have “real” CIE Lab measurements (farbmessung) for this paper? Thanks for your patience and help. Best / Roger
