Yes, MeasureTool is capable of measuring the Standard IT8.7/4 Random target just fine. But it I am looking for a faster alternative than reading columns by columns. As it turns out, reading in columns mode takes a good 100 minutes to complete the task whereas reading the same target in row mode takes 55 minutes. You see the difference? I used to be able to read that target with ColorToolbox. But now, I get reading errors. Like the black patch in the center reads 19 0 1 but the black patch in the lower right hand corner reads 19 5 2? I suspect there is something wrong with the table electronics itself? But, oddly enough, MeasureTool gets the number right! Consistently. I tried basICColor Catch, which is a phenomenal application, but, once I get the position right for the three corners, the head then starts to read *between* rows? I have a message into basICColor to that effect but I don't think there is anything they'll be able to suggest. Yesterday afternoon, I managed to read the target, in row mode, using Kodak ProfileWizardMio v4. I have yet to compare the results, whether the target will read the same repeatedly. But the initial results are encouraging. I tried MonacoProfiler 4.8 too but it suffers from the same discrepancy as ColorPort: even though it reads the target row by row, starting from the upper left hand corner (never understood why?), yet the patches come in the wrong order, recorded column by column? I tried with an earlier version of Color Tools 3.0 but I got the same error. I have another used Spectroscan coming in. I am anxious to try it with this one. My next step is to try Argyll... Just have to figure out how to import the reference file in. Allow me to borrow this thread to ask whether anyone has ever successfully measured a Standard IT8.7/4 Random test chart with ColorPort off a Spectroscan XY table? I tried with v2.05 that I downloaded and installed this afternoon but it is forever stuck on measuring the chart "vertically"? I could not find any option for telling the software to measure the chart rotated, horizontally, you know, the way the chart sits on the Spectroscan. Looks like the built-in IT8.7/4 Random is coded for reading off a DTP70 and that's the end of it :(
Do I need a special XML file? Anyone?
I have a mail into X-Rite tech support about this, in case...
