Do you own a 24 patch Macbeth? If you do, you can use the X-rite software or Adobe's and both are free. If not, then yes, the $99 Passport is well worth the investment thanks not only to giving you that Macbeth but other white/black/gray/inbetween white's in a well designed case. So what are we left with: the 24 patch ColorChecker chart and DNG Profile editor? Does that produce good profiles? Is it worth investing the eighty bucks for a chart to give it a go? (I assume that there is no practical way for me to make such profile from the HCT target, right?)
