Thanks for at least confirming that I'm not missing something! This seems like a ridiculous omission on Epson's part. What do they think we want the spectroproofers for? Geeez. On Thu, Jun 14, 2012 at 4:14 PM, Martin Orpen <martin@idea-digital.com>wrote:

Hello. We just received our Epson 4900 printers with the SpectroProofer option. After installing the SpectroProofer Utilities software, it is apparent to me that Epson is basically using ColorBase for the linearization. Unfortunately, when I go to select the paper type, it does not list Epson Proofing Paper White Semimatte! I will be very surprised if I cannot use this paper. Does anyone know how I can do a linearization for this paper using the SpectroProofer Utilities software?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Can't help you, but I can confirm that, on a Mac running 10.6.8, the linearization software doesn't work for any paper apart from Epson photo papers.
I flagged this to Epson UK on Wednesday and haven't had any meaningful response since they asked me to reinstall the software and it still didn't work.
If you've got a Windows machine then you'll be OK because that works as expected -- apart from NOT supporting linearization of Velvet Art papers (which is what we wanted to linearize on our 9900).
ISTR that the older SpectroProofer software did work as expected. The software is a bit of an ugly mess if you take a look at what's inside the packageā¦
