I was given two almost brand-new DTP-41UV units. It breaks my heart to throw them in the garbage. But I got only "one" Color Reflection Reference for both. Given that these things are next to impossible to find, new, I was wondering . I sort of vaguely remember that the old ToolCrib allowed a Terminal mode with the instrument. I remember long, long ago, when buying a fresh Color Reflection Reference from X-Rite, that the data from the new Reference had to be "downloaded" into the instrument? Pretty sure. Now, I tried the instrument with the old MeasureTool (5.1) and, after pressing the Start button, to measure, say, the two strips RGB TC2.83 target, the software appears to enter right into "measurement mode", as though no calibration of any kind was necessary? Question: is it possible to use one of those DTP41 "without" a Color Reflection Reference? Will the instrument "remember" to use the last downloaded reference into its memory? I have to dig into the old ToolCrib PDF I found in my moth balls but if any knows. / Roger
