Re: Seeking advice prior to upgrading camera and scanner calibration tools (HCT)
Parts of answers have come through private mail. I'm told that there should be support for the HCT target in future releases of i1Profiler, which I believe is a good move from X-Rite. On the other hand, what looked to me almost too good to be true has proven to be false hope. I could get hold of an old IT8 target to try the scanner profiling part of the software. It loads the image and file, but stops at the data processing step with message "can't find the appropriate dongle". The basic Display Pro package does not allow for scanner profiling, an expensive measuring device must be connected. The route for me is a BasiCColor upgrade, or keep the old gear running, which I'll probably do for a while. But it's good to know that the HCT has future. Many thanks to all who provided parts of information. Regards Paul Schilliger

If you're not afraid of the command line, there's a far superior option: ArgyllCMS: http://www.argyllcms.com/ It's scary how good it is. And it's free! Cheers, b&
Thank you for that suggestion, Ben. I'm still afraid or reluctant when I have to open a Terminal window, after 15 years + with Mac, but I shall give it a try when my mind is at rest. It's amazing how good and useful some of those independent software can be. Paul Ben Goren wrote:

There's also DispCal which gives Argyll a GUI. http://dispcalgui.hoech.net/ Don't know if that limits the options however. René Damkot www.damkot.com www.getcolormanaged.com On 02-05-13 (w 18) 19:21, Ben Goren wrote:
